Ferncreek Design is committed to meeting your landscape design and gardening needs while adhering to the principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. By working to create a diverse ecosystem in your landscape with native plants placed according to soil type and microclimate, we are also working to reduce your maintenance costs and need to use any synthetic fertilizers or dangerous pest controls. Our planting plans feature species and varieties that are resistant to the most serious diseases or pests, while attracting a number of beneficial insects, butterflies, and birds. We also employ strategies to reduce water use, mowing time, and the expense of gas and pesticides. Finally, we seek to create beautiful landscapes in harmony with the natural world, often using natural stone and other materials which blend in with the surrounding environment. Our philosophy is that what is good for the environment is also good for you. We have provided a few links and articles which we hope will inspire new ideas and get you excited about creating your own sustainable landscape!
Other designers will hand you your final design after meeting with you just once, and then leave it up to you to "take it or leave it". In reality, design is a process, and we encourage your active participation. Whichever design method you choose to use we will always work together with you to find the concept best expresses your vision of the space, and then further refine that concept until we arrive at the perfect solution. We encourage you to read more about the design process, and find out what kind of role YOU will play in creating your dream landscape.
